Sickness and illness

Just recently, I was watching the news on Good Morning Britain and there was an announcement on there that said the UK spends more money on sickness and illness than it spends on defence for our country.

It’s quite astonishing that sickness and health related benefits are costing so much, but I’m not surprised really.

This was made clear to me when I drove past the Leicester Royal Infirmary a few days after hearing this announcement. There was a queue of traffic going all the way around the hospital and extending into the main road, right the way down to the Tiger’s ground. That’s a lot of people all looking for care from the NHS.

So what exactly has changed? It hasn’t always been like this.

Seeing so many people waiting in line for hospital care highlights the dependancy on the NHS and the pharmaceutical industry, rather than looking at alternative therapies for support.

Businesses are being affected as well. According to ACUTEC, sickness and absence rates will cost UK businesses around 26 Billion pounds annually by the time we get to 2030.

Furthermore, the cipd.org report that mental health, postural problems and stress are the most common causes of employees short and long term absence from work.

These three common causes of time off work and sickness can quite often be eased with regular alternative therapies, for instance…

Reiki and Spiritual Healing for bringing balance and harmony to the body, while Chair Acupressure will provide a quick energy boost and helps to loosen up the back and shoulders.

If you are a business owner, just realise how benenficial a wellbeing, holistic programme can be for your individuals and employees.

Holistic therapies allow people to be happier in their environment and workplace. This may lead to increased production and less time off work from stress related symptoms.

For some companies, these holistic therapies are now considered a vital part of a working environment and they work out much cheaper than time off work and visits to the Doctor or hospital.

If you don’t like the idea of suffering from sickness and illness and would prefer to balance the body and boost your immune system, then it may be a good time to receive regular alternative, holistic therapies. There are some really good one’s around and plenty to choose from.
